I'm a Nerd

Yep. I just realized it. I never thought being a nerd was "lame" or "uncool"; I just never considered myself one. But now I am.
I realized this as I was watching an episode of a television series. One of the characters mentioned "Muggle Quidditch" and I immediately became immersed into how they were going to portray it. Then I started looking up Muggle Quiddicth (didn't know it actually existed) and saw that people even had their own teams in some areas. I immediately became excited and started blabbing about how cool it would be if there was a Harry Potter amusement park with a building like Hogwarts (it'd have all the main houses' common rooms like Gryffidnor and Ravenclaw), a bus designed like the night train, and, of course, a Quidditch league (for those of you who haven't read much on Harry Potter, please disregard this).
I think I am a Harry Potter nerd. No, I am one.
I haven't read all the books yet; it just occurred to me several months after reading the fifth book, which is about 7 or 800 pages, how long the books really were. While the first and second one are normal-size for a novel (and the third one is relatively short), 4, 5, 6, and 7 are incredibly long. I haven't completed the last book yet, but I've read everything before that. The series kind of lost its zing for me (although I still enjoy it! Really, I do. I consider it my favorite book series)
But even though I haven't read book #7, I consider myself a Potterhead (I believe that is the term we nerds use ;) I can tell you all the houses in Hogwarts, some of Harry's classes (Potions, Charms, and Defense Against the Dark Arts are the only ones that come to mind right now), a few spells (Windgaurdium Leviosa, if that's how it's spelled, Accio, and the infamous Avada Kedavra), and much more. I can rant about how terrible Snape is to Harry, why Draco Malfoy's a jerk, why Dumbledore is awesome, why Remus Lupin was the BEST Defense Against the Dark Arts Teacher (I don't care if he's a werewolf; they're not that dangerous), why I like Sirius Black (the only person left in Harry's family who cares about him)...But I'm sure you don't want to hear about it (unless you're a fellow Potterhead! :D)

I'm also kinda obsessed with My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic. If you don't know already, I wrote a post about it awhile ago. I really like the show, so much that I think it's currently my favorite show :D
I can tell you that I'm pretty into the show so much that I've seen every episode (so far). I was mad last week because a new episode didn't come out. Every Saturday at 10:30am, I have to get onto The Hub to watch a new episode. I actually got butterflies in my stomach when waiting for the new episode a few weeks ago. (Which reminds me, a new episodes on tomorrow! *Smiles like crazy*
I can tell you the names of all the ponies (the "Mane Six" as some fans call them-get it?): Twilight Sparkle, Applejack, Pinkie Pie, Rainbow Dash, Fluttershy, and Rarity. I can tell you the names of some secondary characters, too: Spike (he's really a main, but he's a dragon instead of a pony), Princess Celestia, Princess Luna, Apple Bloom, Sweetie Bell, and Scootaloo (the Cutie Mark Crusades-you may not get it), Zecora...I'm going to stop there.
I'm a pegasister (I think that's the name for MLP girl fans out of the normal demographic. The ones for boys are bronies :D)

I've also recently become invested in roleplaying games. Not ones that are programmed, but there are some on another blog site, Homeschoolblgger (I spent WAY too much time on there). They created groups, and people jsut sort of write what's going on.
Roleplaying games are just so much fun and sometimes I wish more people were there. I even created my own RP game :)
Well, that's you're weekly insight on me. Until next week, bloggers and readers! :D

Free Schooling Courses

This post really applies to homeschoolers, but non-homeschoolers may be interested in it :)

A few days ago, I was looking for a typing course that I could add to my schoolwork. I found this great free online typing course.
And it made me wonder what other free courses I could get on my hands. I heard that some homeschoolers use the library as their main schooling, and while I don't do that currently, I think it'd be cool to use it for at least some of my courses (like maybe literature). I'm a sucker for free stuff, though, so not everyone may share my excitement :)
One of the things I really enjoy about homeschooling is that you can choose your own curriculim. I mean, yeah, your parents usually do it, but if you're older (like a teenager) they may allow you to choose some (many homeschooled teens are working independently; I'm one of them :D). I've never been excited with school before, but I guess I like choosing schoolwork because I have control over it. I think that if students are allowed the freedom to choose some of what they learn, they may enjoy learning more. I'm not trying to be preachy or anything, but I personally enjoy my work more when I get to have some say over what I learn.
Well, I don't know what else to say. Until next week, I guess! Bye :D
